Mr BROWN: Hello Eva. How are you?
EVA: Fine Tom. I saw Liz 5 minutes ago. She was in the kitchen with uncle Mick.
Mr BROWN: Yes, she hasn’t seen him for a long time. How old are your children now Eva?
EVA: Well, John’s 21 and Maria’s 17.
Mr BROWN: Is John still at university?
EVA: Yes, he’s been there for 2 years now but the course finishes next year.
Mr BROWN: What’s he going to do after that?
EVA: Well, he’s studying business and computing but he wants to be a Maths teacher.
Mr BROWN: That sounds interesting. What about Maria? Is she going to go to university?
EVA: She’s taking her exams in June and if she passes she wants to study German.
Mr BROWN: Oh, I’d love to speak another language - German, French - but I can only speak English. Are you still working at the bank Eva?
EVA: No, I stopped that years ago. I’m a nurse now. I work in a hospital.
Mr BROWN: A nurse! That’s wonderful but why did you change jobs?
EVA: Well, at the bank I got a lot of money but it was a boring job so I changed. It’s much more interesting now.
Mr BROWN: And what about that wonderful husband of yours? Bill. What’s he doing now?
EVA: Bill’s still a doctor but he doesn’t collect stamps now - he’s got a new hobby.

Mr BROWN: Really? What’s that? Painting? I know he likes art.
EVA: No, photography. He’s got a new camera and he takes pictures all the time.
Mr BROWN: Is he good?
EVA: Yes, his photos are really nice, especially his photos of animals and I like his new hobby because we travel more now.
Mr BROWN: Oh look, there he is. Bill, come over here……
[FIVE SECOND PAUSE]
RUBRIC: You will now hear the conversation again.
